Job purpose

  • The Senior Manager, Membership is responsible for ensuring the members are fully engaged with the chamber’s activities and renew promptly, as well as recruiting new members.


Working location and time

  • Beijing, 9:00-17:30, Monday- Friday


Duties and responsibilities

The chamber is looking a highly motivated leader for its Membership team to raise engagement with members, secure renewals and recruit new members. We are looking for candidates who can combine analysis, high-impact tools and interpersonal skills in attracting members to the chamber and keeping them by continuously communicating our high-value proposition. Operating at the heart of the foreign business community in China, this position offers unique opportunities to engage with leaders of global companies in a fast-paced, creative, and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive base salary plus a multi-month bonus depending on performance.

  • Manage team of three handling member on-boarding, engagement and renewal
  • Set renewal, recruitment and financial targets for the team, and monitoring progress toward them
  • Develop and improve member recruitment and retention programs
  • Employ effective sales tools to manage new member and renewal pipelines
  • Identify members at high risk of dropping membership well in advance of renewals
  • Oversee Chairman’s Circle of premium-level members
  • Analyze member needs to inform strategic direction of the chamber
  • Design and develop membership related marketing materials
  • Manage department’s budget



  • Five or more years in a business-to-business sales leadership role; ideal candidates will likely come from membership-based organizations 
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to proactively plan and meet deadlines
  • Experience working with volunteer boards, committees, and a diverse membership in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mature, self-confident and personable
  • Comfortable communicating and presenting to mid- and senior-level executives 
  • Team leader and collaborative player who can support AmCham Board of Governors and President, lead teams, work across functions and support Chapters as required
  • Self-starter that can motivate teams and colleagues in a non-hierarchical setting
  • Fluent in English and mandarin Chinese
  • Open minded, flexible and adaptable
  • Comfortable making sense of and deriving insights from data
